Police and firefighters found a car on its side following a smash on a rural South Cheshire lane. And drivers were told to stay away from Back Lane in Smallwood last night (March 2) as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police and a fire engine from Holmes Chapel were sent to the smash just before 7.30pm. A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters attended a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving one overturned car onto its side. The two occupants of the vehicle had freed themselves prior to our crew's arrival and are not believed to have suffered any serious injuries.

"Firefighters made the vehicle safe and left the incident with police and ambulance colleagues." A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: "Police received a report of a one vehicle collision on Back Lane in Smallwood. "A car had ended up on its side. No one was trapped and there were no reported injuries. The car was recovered from the road."
