Cheshire caravan park eyes major change as plans lodged

The new site would have 64 statics

Plans have been submitted to make changes at a caravan site in Delamere. An application has been lodged with Cheshire West and Chester Council to convert Fishpool Farm Caravan Park from a site which currently has touring and static caravans, along with glamping pods, into a site purely for statics.

The plans also include flattening an existing shower block at the site on Fishpool Road and constructing a new laundry building. There would also be alterations to the existing offices. The site as it is now has 23 static caravans, 31 touring pitches and seven glamping pods. The new site would have 64 statics.

A design and access statement supporting the scheme has been submitted on behalf of Ty Gwyn Sales Limited, which it said is in the process of purchasing Fishpool Farm Caravan Park from the current owner. The current caravan park owner will retain Fishpool Farm, meaning both sites would be under separate ownership.

Fishpool Farm Caravan Park would be run independently from Fishpool Farm. The site itself is located in the countryside and is accessible from the B5152 which connects to the A54 to the north. To the south of the site is Fishpool Farm. To the west is woodland and to the north and east are agricultural fields. Beyond the field to the north is The Fishpool Inn restaurant.

The design and access statement said some caravans are proposed to be let out as short-term holiday lets, whilst some would be sold/leased out long-term. A sales area is proposed within the south-western part of the site, near the site entrance, where visitors would be able to view caravans.

It said: “The proposal would remove all touring pitches and glamping pods, replacing them with static caravan units.” It said the proposed static caravans would be grey, green or brown in colour to help blend into the surrounding natural landscape.

Timber-effect cladding is proposed on the new building and refurbished office building to reflect what the plans said was ‘the existing character of the site’. The plans can be viewed on the council’s planning portal under the following reference number: 25/03370/FUL.
