Police are investigating a hit-and-run smash which left a passenger with 'serious and life-changing injuries'. Emergency services were called to the scene in Shavington where one of the vehicles involved failed to stick around.

Now officers have issued an appeal for witnesses after revealing how a casualty has been left seriously hurt. The smash occurred at around 10pm on April 17 at the junction of Main Road and Rope Lane.

It involved a black Toyota Corolla and an 'unknown' vehicle, thought to be black, which fled. A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "The passenger in the Corolla sustained serious and life-changing injuries to his kidneys.

"The vehicle which failed to stop at the collision is believed to have turned left and driven in the direction of Crewe Road. As officers work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, they would now like to appeal to anyone who has any information, dashcam or video footage to come forward."

Witnesses should call the police on 101 and quote IML-2071728.
