The Cheshire pub serving the cheapest Wetherspoon pints in the UK
Some are priced as low as £1.99
A new study has revealed that the cheapest Wetherspoon pints in the UK are being pulled at a Cheshire boozer. The latest research - carried out by Vapeverse - looked at the pub chain's prices for some of the nation’s go-to pints – including the likes of Carling, Stella Artois and Guinness.
They then averaged them by location to find out where drinkers get the most for their money. Taking the top spot is Northwich, where average pint prices are the lowest in the UK, coming in at around £2.90.
At The Penny Black, on Witton Street, drinkers can still pick up a pint of Carling or Coors for just £1.99. In second place is Wombwell, South Yorkshire, with an average pint price of around £2.94. Prices at The Horseshoe stay low across the menu, with Carling and Coors well under £3 and more premium pints not far behind.
Pontefract comes in third, with an average pint price of around £2.96. Tied in fourth place are three Scottish towns – Hawick, Peterhead and Greenock – each with an average pint price of around £2.99. In fifth place is Rhyl, North Wales, where the average pint price comes in at around £3.01.
"Going for a drink has become noticeably more expensive over the past few years, so it’s no surprise that people are paying closer attention to where their money goes," said a spokesperson at Vapeverse. "What this data shows is that Wetherspoons continues to offer genuinely affordable options – especially in the North, Scotland and Wales – where you can still find pints under £3 without needing to hunt around.
"For anyone meeting friends locally or popping in for a casual drink, knowing which towns offer the best value can make a real difference to how often people feel able to go out."
