Chester city centre's artisan gelato maker Krum Gelato has received one of the highest accolades in the UK gelato and ice cream industry. The Watergate Street venue has been awarded five stars at the 2026 Golden Scoop Awards for its delicious Pistachio Gelato flavour.
The recognition comes after Krum Gelato received the highest 3-Star distinction at the Great Taste Awards in July last year for the same flavour, placing it among the most highly-regarded artisan food products judged in the UK. The Golden Scoop Awards bring together some of the most respected gelato and ice cream producers from across the country, with products judged blind by industry experts for flavour, balance, texture and overall technical excellence.
Entering the competition for the first time, Krum Gelato achieved five stars for its Pistachio Gelato and one star for the Chocolate Gelato. The awards ceremony took place at The Belfry Hotel & Resort.

Krum Gelato is led by chef-owner Valentina Aviotti and co-owner Fabrizio Gobbato, who have developed a reputation for an ingredient-driven approach to gelato making, combining traditional Italian techniques with carefully sourced raw materials and a bespoke gelato base made using fresh local dairy.
Valentina said: "Our work always begins with the ingredient. Achieving a five-star recognition at the Golden Scoop Awards, following our Great Taste three-star award last year, is incredibly rewarding for the time and care we put into refining flavour, balance and texture."
