Chester man charged over Ellesmere Port woman's death due in court

A man charged over the death of an Ellesmere Port woman more than two years ago is due to appear in court next week.

Peter Scargill, of Cherry Road, Chester, is set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Monday, March 16 for a case management hearing, Cheshire Constabulary has confirmed. It comes after he was charged by police over the death of Jennifer Smith, 38, whose body was found at a property in Birch Grove, Ellesmere Port, on Thursday, June 1, 2023.

He appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court back in December. Scargill, 48, is accused of manslaughter, stalking involving serious alarm and distress, and blackmail.
