Chester restaurant Hickory's Smokehouse reopening soon - what to expect
The popular venue's 'substantial' refurbishment is nearing completion
In a little over a week's time, popular Chester restaurant Hickory's Smokehouse will be reopening its doors following a "substantial" refurbishment. Work to revamp the venue, which has been based on The Groves by the River Dee since 2010, started at the turn of the year.
The restaurant will be welcoming back diners from Wednesday, February 19 - with customers able to book their table at the new-look eatery now. If you're wondering what to expect, Hickory's Smokehouse has revealed what's in store for guests.
As part of the refurbishment, the restaurant is building an extension to create a 'river room'. The main restaurant area will have new seating and flooring, along with a bigger chef’s bar.
There will also be a new cinema room for children – which Hickory's promises will "be bigger than before". The eatery posted on social media last week: "Can't wait to see what we've done with the place? Book now hickorys.co.uk/book."
Back in 2022, pub chain Greene King took a stake in the restaurant group following the exit of previous investor Piper after eight years. Hickory's said the investment from Greene King supported its ambitious expansion plans to bring Hickory’s to many more guests across the UK.
The Chester-based chain has sites in the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands. Yorkshire, North Wales and the South West. In 2022, the group was also officially crowned as the 'Best Large Company' to work for in the UK.
