Driver, 77, bailed by police after woman dies in crash

A 29-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene

Police have bailed a driver following the death of a woman. The 77-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and quizzed over the weekend.

But the suspect has now been bailed pending further inquiries. Cheshire Police are today expected to name the 29-year-old Congleton woman who was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The collision - between a blue Fiat 500 and a white Land Rover Defender - happened on the A534 Spark Lane, in Arclid, at 9am on Saturday 7 February. A police spokesman said: "The suspect has now been released on bail."

Police are appealing for witnesses. They should call the police on 101, quoting incident number IML-2266170.
