Driver taken to hospital after car crashes into wall on A56
The road was closed while firefighters rescued the driver from the vehicle
A busy Cheshire road was shut after a car crashed into a wall. The collision occurred on the A56 Bridge Lane in Frodsham shortly after 11.10am yesterday (March 17).
Two fire engines from Widnes and Runcorn attended the scene as crews rescued the driver from the car. In a statement, Cheshire Constabulary said: "At 11.12am on Tuesday 17 March, police were called to reports of a collision on Bridge Lane, Frodsham, near to the junction of Pear Tree Close.
"Officers attended and found there had been a minor collision involving a red Hyundai which had collided with a wall. The driver of the car was medically trapped in the vehicle so fire were called to the scene to help remove the casualty. The scene was cleared by 1.45pm."
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters rescued one casualty from their vehicle before being handed into the care of paramedics, who then took them to hospital."
