Ellesmere Port clinic set to be demolished to make way for new homes
Plans have been lodged to bulldoze the site
A "redundant" Ellesmere Port clinic is set to be demolished to make way for new homes. Plans have been lodged to bulldoze the Stanney Lane Clinic and Park Family Centre buildings for future development of the site as part of the town's ongoing £13m regeneration project.
The clinic recently closed its doors for good with a number of services being relocated. The planning application submitted by Cheshire West and Chester Council for the demolition of the buildings states: "The site presents an opportunity for new investment in the area and forms part of the Levelling Up Fund project for Ellesmere Port Town Centre.
"Once the redundant building has been demolished the site will be cleared and fencing will be placed around the boundary. We will work with developers to build new first-time buyer or family homes (low-carbon homes)."
According to the application, demolition work is expected to start in July and would take up to four months to complete. This is the latest site to be earmarked for new low-carbon homes.
One service forced to relocate from the clinic was the West Cheshire Wheelchair Service. It stated on the Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust website that it has moved to Birkenhead, adding: "Stanney Lane Clinic is scheduled for demolition, so all services must move – this is part of the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities regeneration works in Ellesmere Port. We’re relocating temporarily to ensure the service can continue safely and without disruption. The move is up to six months."
