Firefighters free trapped A51 motorist after Cheshire bypass pile-up
Crews had to remove the roof of one of the cars
Firefighters had to remove the roof of a car following a pile-up on a busy bypass. Two fire engines, police and paramedics were scrambled to the A51 in Nantwich yesterday evening.
Cheshire Police, who were called out at around 6pm, say on arrival they found a smash between a red Mercedes, a grey Audi and a grey Skoda. The motorist of the Skoda was 'medically trapped'.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, who sent engines from Crewe and Nantwich, confirmed a 'full roof removal' of the vehicle was carried out to get the casualty out.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "Police were called to a collision on the A51, Nantwich Bypass. Officers attended and found there had been a collision involving three cars, a red Mercedes, a grey Audi and a grey Skoda.
"The driver of the Skoda was medically rapped in the vehicle and released by firefighters before being passed to the care of paramedics. None of the occupants are reported to have sustained any life changing injuries."
The scene was cleared by 8.40pm.
