A fleeing M6 driver made off across fields after leading cops on a chase and crashing at a roundabout. Now a man has been arrested over the incident in Holmes Chapel.

Cheshire Police say it came after a pursuit involving Greater Manchester Police which spilled out onto the M6 in Cheshire. A spokesperson for the constabulary said "The vehicle came off at Junction 18 where it crashed at the roundabout.

"The driver fled across fields towards Holmes Chapel, where Cheshire patrols made to the location and assisted in the search. Eventually he was located by a Cheshire dog patrol, and detained."

Subsequently a man from Dudley was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for the police.
