An "attractive" former church building with stunning views of the Cheshire countryside has sold at auction. The old Allgreave Methodist Church, near Macclesfield, had a guide price of £80,000.

The property, which has planning consent to be turned into a holiday home, went under the hammer with Adam Partridge Auctioneers & Valuers earlier this month. Lot one in the evening auction, the building was snapped up for £86,000.

The auction listing stated: "An attractive detached stone building, for which has planning to be converted into a holiday home. This is a splendid opportunity to acquire an attractive period building which is set in the most highly advantageous position affording far reaching reviews over the Cheshire countryside and beyond.

"There is a garden area to the side and also space to create parking, as well as two outbuildings. For anyone wanting to buy a splendid holiday home amidst the splendid scenery and wide open spaces of the Peak District National Park, this property will be of much interest.
