Former Cheshire village schoolhouse up for auction with £150k price tag
The building was most recently used as a youth club but closed after falling into a state of disrepair
A former Victorian schoolhouse in the heart of a Cheshire village will go under the hammer this month.
The building - most recently utilised as Shavington Youth Centre - has been vacant for more than two years. Back in January this year, we reported that Cheshire East Council had put the Main Road property up for rent and was seeking a community group to take on the lease.
However, that scenario has failed to materialise and now the building will go up for auction with Pugh Auctions on Wednesday, August 16. The property has been given a guide price of £150,000.

On the first floor the building contains a kitchen, two storage rooms and three open plan rooms, while the first floor has three rooms. Pugh Auctions states: "A substantial two storey detached building extending to approximately 470sqm. Formerly used as a Community Centre the property is offered with vacant possession and in need of some refurbishment.
"The sale provides the opportunity for potential conversion or re-development of the site, subject to any necessary consents. The property is situated in the village of Shavington, close to a number of daily amenities."
Members of Shavington-cum-Gresty Parish Council, along with Crewe and Nantwich MP Dr Kieran Mullan, had campaigned to save the youth centre, which closed after it fell into a state of disrepair.
