Former Chester city centre café set to become new Thai restaurant
It's opening at this vacant Foregate Street premises
A new Thai restaurant is set to open in Chester city centre. Russell’s Thai Tapas is taking over the vacant Foregate Street premises formerly occupied by The Eatery.
The restaurant plans are revealed in a premises licence application submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council by Russell's Thai Limited. It states: "The restaurant name is Russell’s Thai Tapas which will operate as a full-service dining establishment, serving Thai cuisine.
"Our primary hours of operation are Monday to Sunday from 11am to 10pm, with occasional private events that may extend past regular hours, if permitted. Russell’s Thai Tapas is seeking permission for the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages within the premises, including the dining and bar areas.
"Also, there is background music to enhance the dining atmosphere. The restaurant will meet all necessary health and safety, licensing regulations, including compliance with fire safety codes, proper waste disposal, and food safety standards. Staff will be trained in responsible alcohol service."
Public consultation runs until December 16. The Foregate Street unit was vacated by independent-run café The Eatery back in September.
The venue posted on its Facebook page that month: "We have decided it’s time to move on so have sold our beloved café. After eight amazing years we feel that we both want a new challenge in our lives.
"We are extremely proud of what we have achieved at The Eatery and can’t thank you all enough for your love and support over the years. Whether you come in every day, a few times a week or just when visiting Chester, we will miss you all. Big love Marco and Pippa."
