Gang shout 'stab him' as they chase cyclist in Cheshire town

Three men chased him shouting "stab him, stab him"

A man was chased by a gang of robbers on bikes who chillingly shouted ‘stab him, stab him’.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened when the victim was cycling along Epsom Avenue, Handforth, on Wednesday, October 9, at 4.45pm.

The 24-year-old was near the Aston Martin garage when he was approached by two men on one moped and another on his own bike.

They demanded he hand over his possessions but he refused, pushing one of the advancing men away.

Following this the victim was then chased through a nearby retail park as the men shouted ‘stab him, stab him’ although no knife was seen.

He managed to escape, entering a nearby gym, but the men stayed in the area circling the car park in an attempt to find him.

The gang later left and are described as being aged between 18 and 24, wearing balaclavas and visors, and riding petrol bikes.

Detective Sergeant Thomas Binder, of Macclesfield CID, said: “Even though, thankfully, nothing was stolen nor no one was harmed during this particularly alarming incident, we are now working to trace those responsible.

“This incident happened at a busy time of day, so we are looking for anyone who may have witnessed what happened or had seen anything suspicious around the time of the incident, to get in touch with us.”
