The grieving family of a woman killed in a crash in Adlington say they have been left 'deeply wounded' by the tragedy. Emergency services had been called out to the A523 Poynton Relief Road to reports of a collision.

Officers found a Peugeot 208 and a Mercedes A Class had been involved in a crash. Police say that following the smash, which took place at around 7.45am on August 7, Lindsay Shakeshaft, the driver of the Peugeot, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile the Mercedes driver, a 35-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has since been released on conditional bail.

Now Lindsay's family have paid tribute to the 54-year-old, of Cheadle - and say she will be 'missed by all who knew her'. In a statement they said: "We are deeply wounded by the news of the collision that has left us without Lindsay. She was a resolute, compassionate, and supportive woman to many people, including as a wife, mother, sister, and auntie.

“She will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the emergency services and members of the public for their help during this incident and ask for respect at this difficult time."
