Helicopter up as cops pursue car 'with shredded tyres' in 12-mile M6 chase

It was brought to a stop in Cheshire

The car was stung following an M6 chase

Police scrambled the helicopter during a 12-mile M6 chase involving a car with 'shredded tyres'. Police have confirmed an arrest has been made following the pursuit through North Staffordshire.

It unfolded after a Hyundai had failed to stop for Staffordshire Police's road crime team at Stafford Services. The car had its tyres stung - which sees cops throw metal barbs across the road - as it headed northbound.

Despite the tyres falling to pieces the car managed to carry on, on its rims, into Cheshire with the National Police Air Service (NPAS) called out. Cheshire Police joined in and the car was brought to a stop just before Junction 17 for Sandbach.

One individual was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug driving, having no licence, no insurance, dangerous driving, and possession of a class A drug.
