Huge bungalow fire sees road closed as crews spend night tackling flames
Firefighters were at the property next to Hickory's Smokehouse in Crewe for almost 18 hours
Firefighters tackled "a significant blaze" at a bungalow in Crewe on Saturday night (April 29).
Six fire engines, as well as police and paramedics, were sent to the scene on Crewe Road, Shavington, shortly after 7pm. The blaze broke out in the roof space of a property next to Hickory's Smokehouse restaurant whose car park was used as a base by emergency services.
The road was closed by officers while fire crews dealt with the incident. Thankfully, the occupants were all accounted for when emergency services arrived at the scene.

At the height of the incident, there were five fire engines - from Crewe, Nantwich, Audlem and Lymm - at the scene plus the aerial ladder platform from Chester. The fire service was at the scene for almost 18 hours.
Cheshire Constabulary's Shavington, Rope, Willaston and Wistaston Police Facebook page confirmed that the fire was near to Hickory's. Responses to the force's posts - which included pictures from the scene - stated that the fire was in a bungalow near to the venue.
In its first update, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters are tackling a significant blaze in the roof space of a house on Crewe Road, Shavington. Owing to complexity of the fire, six appliances are at the scene and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have been deployed into the property.
"All persons are accounted for. Police are in attendance to help manage traffic and a local restaurant car park is being used as the rendezvous point for emergency service personnel."
By 10pm, the service stated: "Firefighters are making good progress, tackling the blaze from inside the house. The number of appliances at the scene has been reduced to three fire engines and an aerial ladder platform, which is providing light for the crews to work under. Crews are expected to remain at the incident for some time."
The number of fire engines was eventually reduced to one with firefighters using a thermal imaging camera and hose reel jet to tackle hot spots overnight. By 12.50pm the following day, the incident was finally closed.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
