An iconic Cheshire pub overlooking the Dee Estuary is undergoing a major £1.5m revamp. The Boathouse at Parkgate closed its doors over the weekend so the three-month refurbishment can begin.
Hydes Brewery has confirmed that the landmark pub is expected to reopen its doors in early June. The investment includes the creation of a brand-new outside trading area, which includes a stunning new upstairs terrace designed to maximise the venue's reputation as a prime location for coastal dining.
The project will also deliver a full interior modernisation that carefully considers the building’s history, dating back to around 1850, ensuring that diners continue to enjoy the site's unique character and stunning views over the estuary. Additionally, the refurbishment includes a significantly improved function room to cater to private events and gatherings.
This major commitment will lead to the creation of 25 new hospitality roles, including a new general manager. Adam Mayers, managing director of Hydes, said: "The Boathouse is a jewel in our estate, occupying a truly unique location on the Dee Estuary.
