Masked e-bike riders have been spotted sailing through red lights at a busy junction as police have hit out at their 'idiotic' behaviour. Now officers in Sandbach have urged witnesses to get in touch as the force looks to put the brakes on the individuals involved.

Cheshire Police in recent weeks neighbourhood cops have received 'several' reports of Surron e-bikes being 'ridden dangerously' in the town. The riders are said to be wearing face coverings 'in an effort to hid their identity.

PC Michelle Sharp wants to hear from witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage. She said: "The behaviour of these riders is not only illegal, it’s dangerous and could cause a serious accident. One witness said they saw them riding across the incredibly busy junction of Old Mill Road and High Street while the lights were on red, which was ridiculously dangerous and idiotic behaviour.

“To help us stop this, I’d urge anyone who sees these bikes being ridden in an anti-social and dangerous manner around Sandbach to contact police and provide as much detail as possible. If you have dash cam footage, please share this with us so that we can find those responsible. The same goes for anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage.

“I’d also urge anyone who has any information on those riding these bikes dangerously to contact us. The more information we have, the more we can do to deter this dangerous behaviour.” Witnesses can contact the force online here or call 101.
