Inside popular Chester restaurant Opera Grill after £500,000 revamp

The venue has reopened

A renowned Chester city centre restaurant has reopened its doors today (March 21) following a £500,000 refurbishment. Located in a historic Grade II listed building on Pepper Street, the new-look Opera Grill has introduced three distinct spaces - for dining, drinking and enjoying a refreshed entertainment schedule.

The reimagined space has been designed with every occasion in mind, offering guests a range of settings to enjoy the restaurant’s expertly curated menu. Whether you’re gathering friends and family together over perfected grill classics, indulging in the freshest seafood, or savouring inspired seasonal dishes, Opera Grill promises guests an unforgettable experience.

Open every day of the week for enjoying a pre or post-dinner drink, the terrace has been revamped to create a suburban oasis in the heart of Chester. Representative of the latest trends in the gardening space, the new terrace will introduce plenty of greenery and natural elements, curating the perfect all-weather environment to be enjoyed all-year round.

Adding a touch of excitement to every visit, the beloved music lounge will remain to provide a host of new entertainment. In the music lounge, guests will be able to enjoy Opera Grill’s reimagined entertainment programme, which includes live acrobatics in the form of 'The Show', taking place on the last Friday of each month, the beloved gospel performing on Sundays, and Revive, taking over on the last Sunday of each month.

In the music lounge, diners will also be able to experience a live band every Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm. For those seeking a more intimate or exclusive experience, Opera Grill now offers the elegant Alto Bar - a speakeasy-inspired destination within the restaurant where guests can enjoy cocktails while listening to live post-modern jazz performances.

On Friday and Saturday nights, the Alto Bar will come alive with music from 7.30 to 9.30pm, followed by a DJ keeping the atmosphere going until 1am, ensuring the perfect evening out. "We are incredibly excited to introduce the new-look Opera to the Chester community and our loyal customers," says Andrew Garton, CEO of Individual Restaurants.

"With the new design and enhanced entertainment offerings, we’re setting the stage for Opera to become the go-to destination for dining and entertainment in the city. Whether you’re here for drinks, to dine or to celebrate a special occasion, we’re confident our unique atmosphere and memorable experiences will make every visit something special."
