A smash has shut a busy South Cheshire A-road in both directions. The A534 - between Crewe and Wheelock - is thought to have first been shut off in the early hours due to a collision.
According to traffic monitoring system Inrix and it's still closed between Crewe and the outskirts of Sandbach. An alert issued just before 3.20am states: "A534 in both directions closed due to accident from A5020 University Way (Crewe Green roundabout) to Crewe Road ( Wheelock Roundabout)."
No further details on the crash have been released. We have contacted Cheshire Police for a statement.

'Multiple police officers' at scene
A spokesperson for the local policing team in Crewe said: "Multiple Officers have been committed with an ongoing police investigation on the Haslington bypass this morning."
