Met Office issues 15-hour Cheshire weather warning

County set for strong winds and heavy rain

The Met Office has issued large parts of Cheshire with a 15-hour weather warning as the county braces itself for string winds along with a spell of heavy rain. The yellow warning for wind comes into force at 5am tomorrow (Thursday, March 12) and runs until 8pm.


Areas including Chester, Ellesmere Port, Knutsford, Northwich and Warrington are all covered by the warning, with maximum wind gusts of up to 50mph forecast. It states: "A period of strong winds, accompanied by heavy rain, is expected on Thursday with some transport disruption possible."


The Met Office forecast adds: "Rain and strong winds continuing to move southeastwards during Thursday. Still some sunshine ahead of this, with bright spells and showers following. Feeling colder later in the north.

"Rather cold on Friday with a mix of sunny spells and showers. Drier on Saturday before further wind and rain moves across the UK on Sunday. Temperatures gradually recovering."
