New parking rules in force at Cheshire beauty spot

The change came in over the weekend

Astbury Mere Country Park

New parking rules have been brought in at a Cheshire beauty spot. Astbury Mere Trust has banned overnight parking on its car park by locking the gate.


The new rule came into force at Astbury Mere Country Park on Sunday 1 March. Stoke-on-Trent Angling Society has warned its members of the change at the Congleton beauty spot.


It comes as a row is rumbling over the erection of additional fencing around the lake.

A notice states: "Astbury Mere Trust are looking at ways to enforce our no overnight parking policy on our land. Thus from Sunday 1 March no overnight parking will be allowed in our main car park outside the visitor centre. The gate will be locked overnight."
