The North Wales seaside locations attracting Cheshire house hunters

Estate agents are seeing an influx of buyers looking to relocate or snap up a second home

Two seaside locations in North Wales are currently attracting house hunters from Cheshire, according to a local estate agent. With its stunning beaches and array of properties boasting sea views, people are venturing over the border in search of a new home or holiday abode.

Gascoigne Halman, an estate agents in Alderley Edge, says it is continuing to see interest from Cheshire-based buyers, who are flocking to the region for its calming, coastal lifestyle. Families and professionals alike are enticed by its blend of natural beauty, characterful villages, rich cultural heritage and well-connected road network.

Two coastal areas in particular - Abersoch and Anglesey - are proving to be popular with buyers wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of town and city living. "Anglesey and Abersoch are not only beautiful, they're aspirational in their own right," says Richard Leece, manager of Gascoigne Halman's Alderley Edge office, reports the Manchester Evening News.

"There's a long history of Cheshire residents buying in both areas, drawn to the understated luxury, sweeping views and outdoor lifestyle. Whether it's paddle boarding before breakfast or watching the sunset with a glass of wine, these aren't just holiday homes, they're sanctuaries that restore balance in busy lives."

Abersoch

The village of Abersoch, which sits in the south-eastern corner of the Llyn Peninsula overlooking Cardigan Bay is around two hours from Cheshire. Boasting several beautiful beaches including Abersoch as the most popular, the village was initially a fishing port but in the 1950s it experienced a huge boom in tourism.

The cosmopolitan village is centred around a natural harbour, with rows of boats floating in the marina as sailing is a big part of life in Abersoch. It is a popular place for water sports as well as having an array of boutique shops, excellent restaurants and a welcoming atmosphere.

House prices in Abersoch had an overall average of £585,000 over the last year, according to Rightmove. The majority of properties sold during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £803,750. Terraced houses sold for an average of £311,667, with semi-detached properties fetching £732,500.

Anglesey

Off the mainland's northwest coast is the island of Anglesey, which was just recently named the UK's best British island by The Telegraph. Sitting around an hour and a half from Cheshire, the island is known for its attractive 125-mile long shoreline and historic sites including the 13th century masterpiece Beaumaris Castle.

The area offers a much slower pace of life and has been previously recognised as' one of the happiest places to live in the UK'. Houses in Anglesey sold for an average price of £257,742 over the last year, Rightmove's latest data says.

The majority of properties sold in the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £344,635. Terraced houses sold for an average of £164,634, whilst semi-detached properties sold for around £215,545.

What you can buy in Abersoch and Anglesey

Gascoigne Halman is currently marketing two developments in these areas, and say they've had lots of enquiries from a mixed demographic including house hunters from Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Situated on the former site of the Bull Bay Hotel, Tai Porth Llechog on Anglesey's northern coastline is made up of three detached homes, a dormer bungalow and nine luxury apartments priced from £275,000.

It offers a wide range of 'high-spec' accommodation designed to make the most of the area's panoramic views. Meanwhile, Waters Reach in Abersoch is nothing short of a dream coastal home. This five-bed detached house sits on a prime half-acre plot with 180-degree views over the Cambrian Mountains, St Tudwal's Islands and the famed Warren Beach.

With just under 3,000 sq ft of living space, the home features four spacious ground-floor bedrooms, three with sea views, two contemporary bathrooms and an expansive open-plan living area. Upstairs, a charming bedroom and sitting area with picture windows offer a private escape with unmatched vistas of the coastline.
