Plans lodged for The Ivy's new Chester city centre restaurant
It will become the fourth in the region
Plans have been lodged for The Ivy Collection's new restaurant in Chester city centre. Late last year, it was revealed that the company was gearing up to launch its fourth North West restaurant in the city.
Vacancies for a general manager and head chef went live on the company's website in November. The roles' introduction read: "After a year of strong growth in 2025, we are delighted to begin 2026 with the launch of our newest restaurant in Chester.
"At The Ivy Collection, we bring together elegant dining and vibrant hospitality to create outstanding guest experiences across the UK and beyond." The Ivy Collection currently operates four restaurants across the North West, including a Brasserie and an Asia concept in both Liverpool city centre and Manchester’s Spinningfields.
Now plans have been lodged for the company's latest venue - inside the All Bar One restaurant at Newgate House on Newgate Street, which shut back in October. Full planning and advertisement consent applications have been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The application states: "The applicant seeks full planning permission and advertisement consent for the following works in order to help facilitate its occupation and operation of the site. Full planning permission - the erection of new timber panelled and felt roofed bin store with brick riser, as well as alterations to the shopfront, including new spotlights along the restaurant frontage, replacement double entrance doors and openable timber shopfront doors.
"Advertisement consent - the installation and display of 1 x externally (halo) illuminated fascia sign, comprising individually pinned backlit aluminium and brass letters; 1 x internally illuminated projecting aluminium blade sign; and 1 x internally illuminated glazed wall sign with brass surrounds."
AN application to vary the existing premises licence application has also been submitted to the council. Describing its plans for the venue, it states: "To vary the layout of the premises. The changes to the layout include: 1. Reconfiguration of fixed furniture. 2. Relocation of bar.
"3. Relocation of back of house facilities. 4. The customer toilets have been moved to the ground floor. All licensable activities, hours and conditions will remain as existing."
