Plans for new convenience store at Chester city centre student halls
Pop 'n' Shop is earmarked for Chronicle House
Plans are afoot to open a new convenience store at a student accommodation building in Chester city centre. The proposed retail unit - Pop 'n' Shop - is earmarked for Chronicle House on Commonhall Street.
A premises licence application has been submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council by Mr Mandeep Sondhi proposing opening hours of 7am until 11pm, Monday to Sunday. Describing the new store, the application states: "A small convenience shop located in the city centre, selling groceries, snacks, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and vaping products.
"The shop will have a single sales area. Alcohol, tobacco, and vaping products will be displayed behind the counter with age verification in place. Wines and spirits will be stored in fridges.
"There will be no provision for consumption of alcohol on or immediately outside the premises. CCTV will cover the shop floor and entrance. Notices regarding under-18 sales will be clearly displayed, supporting the licensing objectives."
Public consultation over the application runs until November 11. Anyone wishing to make a representation must do so in writing to: The Licensing Team, Cheshire West and Chester Council, The Portal, Wellington Road, Ellesmere Port, CH65 0BA
