Police arrest driver, 77, after Cheshire woman dies in crash

A 29-year-old woman has died in a Cheshire crash. The Fiat driver, from Congleton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash following a collision with a white Land Rover Defender.
It happened on the A534 Spark Lane, in Arclid, at 9am on Saturday 7 February. Police have arrested the 77-year-old Land Rover driver who lives in Congleton.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a fatal collision in Arclid. Police were called to a collision near to the junction of Moorhouse Lane. Officers attended and found there had been a collision between a blue Fiat 500 and a white Land Rover Defender.
"Sadly, the driver of the Fiat died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The driver of the Land Rover has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving."
Detective Sergeant Iain Condliffe, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, added: “We are currently conducting an investigation into the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and as part of our enquiries, we would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police. The same goes for anyone with any relevant dashcam or CCTV footage of what happened."
