Police called after concerns raised for safety of woman on Cheshire bypass bridge

Police were called to a bridge over a Cheshire bypass after concerns were raised for the safety of a woman.


Officers were alerted to the incident on the A500 Shavington Bypass shortly after 7.40am today (February 9).


The road was shut in both directions between between the B5071 Jack Mills Way and the A51 Nantwich Bypass at Cheerbrook Roundabout.

Thankfully, the woman was brought down to safety by 8am and the road reopened.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "At 7.42am this morning police received a report of concern for the safety of a woman on a bridge over the A500 in Shavington.

"At around 8am the woman was brought to safety and the road was reopened."
