Cheshire and North Wales Police Dog Unit's latest heroine is Police Dog Koda, following her exploits in the early hours of this morning.

On only her second night on duty, PD Koda helped detain three people who had made off from officers after being suspected of being involved in a street robbery.

Officers later tweeted: "This girl takes no messing!!"

Police dog training is undertaken over a challenging 13-week course which focuses on safety, control, and efficiency. The handler will be introduced to their dog for the first time at the start of the course and quickly build up a bond.

The course is really intense, both physically and mentally challenging, but at the end of the 13 weeks the dog and the handler know each other pretty well and that original bond is even stronger.
