Police chased two suspected stolen vehicles on the M6 after spotting them in a Cheshire town. It came as officers are investigating burglaries in Chester, Crewe - and Rhyl.

Now two men are being quizzed after a chase on the M6 ended at Junction 15. It comes as part of a probe into a series of burglaries in Cheshire and North Wales.

In the early hours of Tuesday (February 3) North Wales Police received reports of two burglaries in Rhyl and St Asaph where vehicles were stolen from outside the victims' homes. At around 6am that morning and Cheshire Police were called to a burglary in Chester where an Audi Q3 was taken.

Just 55 minutes after and the force was sent to a fourth burglary, this time in Crewe, where a Volvo XC90 and Audi A3 were stolen. Cheshire Police's roads and crime unit located the stolen Volvo and Q3 in Sandbach - where a chase began.

The Audi was stopped on the southbound slip road at Junction 15 of the M6 where a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop for officers. The Volvo, meanwhile, continued on the M6 before it was stopped by officers on the A38 in Birmingham where another 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the same offences. The pair are currently in custody.

Detective Constable Jack Ryder, of Chester Proactive Policing Unit, said: “Burglary is a deeply personal crime that can leave victims feeling unsafe and insecure in their own homes. In these cases, our officers were swiftly deployed to the scene and quickly traced the vehicles involved, resulting in the prompt arrest of two suspects. I hope these arrests will reassure residents and businesses of our commitment to tackling this type of crime, and I’d like to thank all the officers involved for their quick response.”
