Police have warned about an increase in keyless cars being stolen after recovering a Ford in Leasowe.

Officers recovered the car on the Wirral and urged vehicle owners to be wary of an “upward trend” of keyless car thefts – with Fords a particularly popular target.

Anyone with a keyless car is encouraged to keep their keys in a Faraday pouch to prevent crooks manipulating the signal and gaining access to their vehicle.

A Faraday shield blocks the electromagnetic field to protect electronic equipment.

Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Unit said on Twitter on Tuesday morning: “Another stolen vehicle recovered. This time from the Leasowe area of Wirral.
