A seven-year-old girl from Ellesmere Port has been walking the distance between Lands End and John O' Groats to raise funds for charity.

Heidi Barker, from Great Sutton, visits different parts of the UK learning about its culture and history as she takes on the 603-mile fundraising challenge to raise money in the fight against Alzheimer's.

Heidi, who does most of her walking around Cheshire and Wirral, has walked 419 miles so far and is currently in Edinburgh on her virtual map.

She was inspired to embark on her fundraising challenge to help people like her Great Uncle Ian who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Her parents, David and Claire, post photos and videos of Heidi on her travels on Facebook and Twitter alongside a combination of uplifting memes and fascinating facts and invite followers to take part in polls to find their favourite "dad jokes".

David said he "could not be any more proud" of his daughter who is delighted after just being awarded a silver Blue Peter badge for her fundraising exploits.

He said: "As much as Heidi loves raising all the money for such an important cause, she also loves chatting to the people and stroking the dogs she meets on her walks.

"She’s also got quite a following on Twitter now where she tries to make people smile as much as possible."
