Families who are struggling will miss out on vital support thanks to hoodlums who threw a brick at the window of a clothes bank in Winsford.

'Motherwell Cheshire - Pass It On Baby Bank' specialises in sorting and providing baby clothes to struggling families.

Yesterday (October 27) a large brick was thrown through the first floor of the Winsford Community Hub where the group operates along with other community based initiatives.

Jo Conchie, a manager at the community hub, says that shards of glass had fallen into at least five boxes filled with baby clothes which will now have to be thrown away as the charity cannot risk any injuries to the children the clothes were intended for.

Jo told CheshireLive : "The glass shattered among all the clothes. We can't risk using those clothes no matter how much we try and get the glass out because a tiny little splinter can cause so much damage to a little child.

"We have a whole team of volunteers who come over and dedicate hours of their time and a few of them are upset about this because all their hard work has gone for nothing because of one senseless act.

"Everything needs to be done again because we need to ask fore more donations and we need to make sure everything is washed, cleaned, packaged and sorted out.

"It might have been fun smashing the window but the effect that it does have is now families won't be able to benefit from those donations and all the effect on all the volunteers who have put in all their time."
