Woman, 88, seriously hurt in Delamere crash as HGV driver arrested

A woman is seriously injured in hospital after a crash in Delamere. Police were called to the collision at the junction with Station Road and the A556 at around 11.30am on Tuesday (April 1).

It involved a green Mini Countryman and a Heavy Goods Vehicle. The driver of the car, an 88-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains at this time.

The driver of the HGV, a 56-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries. Officers are now appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.

Inspector Steve Griffiths said: "Enquiries in relation to this incident are currently ongoing and as part of our investigation we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or has any other information. The same goes for anyone with any relevant footage from around the time of the incident, including dashcam footage, which could aid our investigation into what happened.
