One This Morning star has three very famous children, and fans will be astounded.

Regular viewers will recognise Gyles Brandreth as a frequent contributor to the popular ITV show. The 78-year-old often appears on the programme to discuss current affairs and royal news, all whilst providing humorous commentary.

The celebrity, renowned for his unique knitted jumpers, regularly shares personal anecdotes with This Morning's audience, including glimpses into his family life and memories of his late cat, Nala.

Some fans might be taken aback to discover that Gyles is the father of three well-known children. Notably, he is the parent of Aphra Brandreth, the Member of Parliament for Chester South and Eddisbury.

In addition to Aphra, Gyles and his wife, Michèle Brown, are also parents to their daughter, Saethryd, a journalist and ghostwriter, and their son Benet, a barrister and novelist, reports the Daily Star.

Aphra was the Conservative candidate for Kingston and Surbiton in the 2019 general election, finishing runner-up to Ed Davey, who is now the leader of the Liberal Democrats.

She was subsequently elected to the Chester South and Eddisbury seat in the 2024 general election, a new constituency that encompasses part of her father's former seat, City of Chester. Aphra secured victory with 19,905 votes, defeating Labour's Angeliki Stogia, who received 16,848 votes. Peter Langley of Reform UK came third.

Gyles was famously elected as the Conservative MP for the City of Chester in 1992. He served the constituency until losing his seat at the 1997 general election, before returning to his media career.

Shortly after being elected, Aphra spoke about following in her father's footsteps, telling Cheshire Live: "I'm excited, and I think it's going to be a steep learning curve.

"Obviously, my dad was an MP, so he has given me some good insight into the role, but of course it has changed."

Aphra continued: "He has been a huge champion and supporter of mine, and I'm very lucky to have such an amazing dad," before revealing that her parents were "over the moon" and "very excited" upon hearing the result.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain about his daughter's victory in 2024, Gyles stated: "I'm bursting with pride. Wearing my heart of my sleeve because Aphra Brandreth, against the odds, was chosen by the people to be their new MP with a majority of 3,000, over Labour and with Reform trailing.

"What's interesting about her campaign, I was up there watching it, trying to learn from her - and she's very much her mother's daughter - was that it was an entirely positive campaign, played locally. Her commitment to the community was extraordinary and she has achieved a wonderful result."
